LOVELAND MAN ARRESTED AFTER EVICTION STANDOFF

A tenant being evicted from his apartment locked the door and refused to surrender to deputies in Loveland on Thursday.

"
Crisis negotiators tried to gain the man’s cooperation, but he refused to exit the apartment," the Larimer County Sheriff's Office said.
The tenant was arrested after a K9 team stormed the apartment. A SWAT team also made verbal commands, fired pepper balls, chemical irritants and flash bangs.

The man - who made "threatening statements" to deputies - was charged with
burglary, trespassing, failure to vacate the premises, obstruction, and criminal mischief.
The standoff occurred
near the 100-block of Juniper Place, according to Loveland police. Residents were ordered to shelter in place. The man was treated by medics.

The sheriff's office said: "The eviction process is lengthy, involves multiple notices and court hearings, and gives people ample opportunity to resolve the situation without law enforcement involvement."
