Colorado Governor Jared Polis opened a time capsule discovered on the grounds of the state capitol.
The capsule - from 1907 - was located at a Civil War memorial damaged during the George Floyd riots six years ago.
"The tin box hidden beneath the monument’s base was an unexpected find, and the contents hidden inside were entirely unknown," the governor's office said.
It contained a typed note, newspapers and other memorabilia.
