The Colorado Secretary of State disbanded the troubled municipal government of the tiny town of Hartman in southeast Colorado.
Beset by political bickering and scuffles and allegations of fraud, Hartman, population 50 or less, no longer had a serving board of trustees - they all resigned in January - or a municipal clerk.
The town, in turn, was unable to hold an election.
Prowers County will take charge of the 172-acre town's streets and alleys and assume ownership of Hartman's water system, according to the secretary of state' office.
The move follows a public hearing held earlier this month
