The Adams 12 Five Star School District could shutter as many as seven schools after this school year ends.
"Across the country, school districts are seeing a trend of declining enrollment," the district says on its website. "Demographers point to several drivers: declining birth rates, high housing costs and other factors reshaping school communities."
A decision could come this autumn. The district operates schools in Thornton, Westminster, Broomfield, Northglenn and Federal Heights.
