A person was injured in the crash of a small airplane near Springs East Airport in El Paso County, the Ellicott Fire Protection District said. The single-engine aircraft hit the ground behind a home on a sunny Saturday morning. Firefighters "extricated the sole occupant and provided medical care, assisted by Falcon Fire Protection District ambulance crews," officials said. The cause of the crash is under investigation.
