WILDFIRE RISK BLAZING AS HIGH WINDS SWOOP INTO REGION

UPDATE

Wildfire risk is high with winds of up to 75 mph forecast for the mountains and up to 50 mph in the Denver area and across the plains Monday, the National Weather Service said.

Authorities in Jefferson County issued a Red Flag Warning for 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Boulder County, scene of December 2021's conflagration, placed a 24-hour fire warning into effect.
"Fires can start from the smallest ignition source, so make sure that you are using spark arresting equipment, not having open burns, and avoiding other fire-starting behavior," Boulder Fire-Rescue said.

The Colorado Office of Emergency Management warned widespread power outages are possible Monday. Xcel Energy is on alert.
