FOOD STAMP CRISIS: WHITE HOUSE ORDERS COLORADO, OTHER STATES TO STOP EMERGENCY GROCERY AID

T
he White House ordered Colorado and other states to "immediately undo any steps" to provide stopgap food aid to the needy, CBS News reports.

Colorado had provided approximately 32,000 SNAP beneficiaries full benefits as of Friday - out of more than 500,000 statewide, according to the state Department of Human Services.

The White House - where the executive pantry is presumed to be stocked - said states were "unauthorized" to help struggling families as courts hash out the food aid cutoff caused by the federal government shutdown.

Food banks across Colorado have worked valiantly to provide free groceries in the meantime.
