Luis Salomon Juarez, 36, was arrested on suspicion of vehicle eluding, reckless endangerment, criminal mischief and possession of a controlled substance after a wild chase early Monday onto I-25, the Adams County Sheriff's Office said.
The incident began when a shot from a pellet gun struck a deputy's vehicle on Bronco Road, shattering a window.
The deputy was at the scene of a Sunday's house fire that killed two people and a dog. The fire is suspicious - but the shooting was apparently unrelated.
The deputy wasn't hurt. He was using his private car to guard the site and called for other deputies who located Juarez's car.
As the chase neared I-270, the car slammed into a barrier. Juarez and another suspect fled on foot. They surrendered after a K9 unit arrived. "A search of the vehicle revealed a pellet gun and suspected methamphetamine," the sheriff's office said.
The second suspect was later released.
