ARREST STUDENT WITH GUN AT FORT MORGAN HIGH SCHOOL

Police arrested a student carrying a handgun in a backpack Thursday at Forth Morgan High School.

"No lockdown procedures were initiated as the student was quickly apprehended before there was any known threat to the students," police said. Charges were pending late Thursday. Police provided this account: "The reporting party was unaware of who the student was that was involved, but the School Resource Officer began an immediate investigation. "Within a short time, the School Resource Officer and staff were able to identify a potential suspect, immediately notified the high school administration, and made contact with the student. "The student was escorted to the office where a handgun was recovered from the student’s backpack."
