Gabriel Esparza, 24, has been sentenced to 40 years in prison for murdering his ex-girlfriend in Greeley a year ago, prosecutors said Tuesday.
The woman, Sierra Nicole Mininger, 24, was shot to death in the 300-block of Ninth Avenue on Dec. 8, 2024.
Esparza told police he and Mininger were arguing and that he had been drinking, prosecutors reported.
“This case is a tragic reminder of the deadly consequences of domestic violence, and we hope it provides some measure of justice and closure for her grieving family,” Chief Deputy District Attorney Anthony Perea said.
