The North Metro Fire Rescue District awarded its civilian fire hero award to quick-thinking Northglenn maintenance worker Julio Cesar Realivazquez. Realivazquez sprang into action with a portable extinguisher at a blaze at the Aspen Park Apartments. "When fire crews arrived minutes later, he had already stopped most of the fire from spreading, helping protect neighboring units and lives," North Metro officials said. The fire broke out Oct. 8.
