FAKE COP PHONE SCAM IN RURAL COUNTY

Fake cop scammers are "active again" in a rural Colorado county, officials said. The Morgan County Sheriff's Office has received complaints that a caller named "Undersheriff Host" claims they have an arrest warrant - and demand payment of a fine.

"Our office does not have any staff members by that name," officials said, noting the scammers "threaten that you must pay $5,000 or you will be arrested." The phone number that appears on caller ID or in voice mail is (970) 831-9580, officials said.
