LIGHTNING INJURES PERSON NEAR SIXTH HOLE OF GOLF COURSE


A lightning strike injured a person Tuesday near the sixth hole of the Fox Hollow Golf Course and ignited a brush fire along Morrison Road, West Metro Fire said.

The victim was transported to hospital. "The lightning ignited a pocket of dead, dry grass, brush, and downed trees in a rough area of the course," officials said. "Quick work by firefighters kept the fire contained to approximately 2 acres, and no structures were threatened." South Metro Fire, Arvada Fire, Indian Hills Fire, Foothills Fire, the Jefferson County Wildland Module, Lakewood Rangers, Lakewood police and the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office also responded.
