RESCUE INJURED SNOW BOARDER FROM GLACIER

Search teams saved an injured snowboarder from Skyscraper Glacier north of Rollins Pass, the Boulder County sheriff's office said. Rescuers reached the man by traversing a 300-foot path in glacial snow, treated his injuries and lifted him to safety Monday. He was flown to a hospital by helicopter. The snow boarder, aged 27, was descending "when he fell, sliding and tumbling approximately 100 feet down the snowfield before coming to rest in a bergschrund," officials said. A bergschrund is a crevasse at the junction of a glacier with a steep slope.
