EVERGREEN HIGH GUNMAN, 16, RADICALIZED; KEPT RELOADING REVOLVER; VICTIM NAMED

UPDATE

Jefferson County officials identified the gunman in the Evergreen High School slaughter as a radicalized student

Desmond Holly, 16, armed with a revolver, died of a self-inflicted gunshot after Wednesday's attack in the mountain town.

Two other students were critically injured by gunfire, one inside the school, the other outside.

Holly was influenced by an extremist network, officials said. They didn't provide further details. He brought extra ammunition and kept reloading the gun.

The midday attack occurred on high school property and an adjacent street. Investigators searched his home. His parents were cooperating, reports say.

Commenting on the frequency of school shootings, an official said: "It really sucks that we're here again."

Meantime, the family of shooting victim Matthew Silverstone, 18, issued a photo and statement thanking the community for its support. “We remain focused on our loved one’s recovery, we respectfully request privacy as we continue to heal and navigate the road ahead,” they said.
The sheriff's office said: "The family of the second victim from the shootings at Evergreen High School is asking for privacy. A photo and family statement will not be released.'
