Cold-blooded Jimmy West, 53, was sentenced to 96 years in prison for murdering a homeless woman whose body was found lashed to a bike trailer in Boulder, prosecutors said Thursday.
West's victim, Zaria Hardee, 19, suffered a blow to the head. Her decomposed remains - wrapped in blankets and a tent - were recovered in the 1800-block of Goss Street on July 14, 2024. She had been killed in a homeless encampment.
"The murder and disposal of her body was horrific," District Attorney Michael Dougherty said. After a lengthy investigation, police tracked down and arrested West in January. The arrest affidavit alleged Hardee's boyfriend traded her for drugs or money. However, West - who has a lengthy criminal record - was acquitted of human trafficking for sexual servitude.
