The Cheyenne Mountain Zoo's oldest hippo, Zambezi, turns 33 today - and gets plenty of TLC. "She’s on medication to help manage arthritis and joint pain, and her pool ramp has been slightly modified to make it easier for her to move between land and water," the zoo says. Much of her day is spent napping and snacking. The zoo says the median life expectancy for a hippo in human care is 36, based on data from the Association of Zoos and Aquariums.
