WIDESPREAD WARNING WEDNESDAY WAITING

UPDATE

The National Weather Service is warning of increased fire danger Wednesday east of the Rockies from the Wyoming to New Mexico state lines as well as the Kansas border.
Winds will average 20 to 40 mph with gusts to 60 mph. In the mountains, wind gusts could reach 90 mph above 9,000 feet. The I-25 corridor could encounter dangerous crosswinds. Electric utilities warn power cuts - preventive or otherwise - are possible. Local burning will be prohibited. Fire and rescue services will be on heightened alert. In Loveland, police said: "This blast will affect much of our area, having zero manners and acting wilder than a kid hyped up on Mountain Dew."
In western Colorado, strong winds and snow are forecast for Wednesday. In Wyoming, high wind watches are in effect for most of the southeast and a small portion of Nebraska's Panhandle. "Gusts of 60-80 mph are possible, strongest for the usual wind prone locations of Wyoming," according to the weather service office in Cheyenne.
