NAILS AND SCREWS SHOWER HIGHWAY IN JEFFERSON COUNTY

Boxes of nails and screws spilled from a semi-truck in Jefferson County, flattening tires and dinging dozens of vehicles, the Colorado State Patrol said Wednesday.

"Troopers were able to stop the vehicle and contact the driver who spilled the boxes onto the roadway, as well as five other vehicles that remained at the scene with damaged tires," the patrol said of Tuesday's mishap on westbound Highway 285 near Morrison.

Troopers also fielded calls from more than 50 drivers "whose vehicles were affected," the patrol said.

No injuries were reported and the Colorado Department of Transportation swept the pavement.
"The driver of the semi-truck fully cooperated with the investigation," the patrol said.
