RED BARON-LIKE BIPLANE CAREENS OFF AIRPORT RUNWAY

UPDATE

A biplane resembling the Red Baron's careened off a runway Friday at Centennial Airport and flipped on its nose.

South Metro Fire Rescue said there
were no injuries. The pilot was the sole occupant of the aircraft, fire officials. There was a small fuel leak after the hard landing. The mishap occurred on Runway 28.

The biplane resembled the legendary Red Baron's fighter, painted red and adorned with a World War 1 iron cross emblem. The flying ace died in a 1918 dogfight.

Centennial Airport, located about 20 miles southeast of Denver, is one of the busiest general aviation airports in the world.
