OVERNIGHT DENVER POLICE BLOTTER: ROOKIE COP KILLS GUNMAN


UPDATE

A rookie police officer shot and killed a gunman early Friday after a brawl with officers, Denver Police Chief Ron Thomas said.

The shooting occurred around 4 a.m. in the vicinity of South Dahlia Street and East Warren Avenue and may have been tied to a domestic dispute. There were three police officers on the scene. The gunman was pronounced dead at Denver Health Medical Center.
There was a "significant threat," to police officers, the chief said at a news briefing. "The individual had his hand on the gun," a revolver, he said.
Meantime, a body was found Thursday night in the vicinity of Union Station in Denver's Lodo district, police said. 
The medical examiner will attempt to determine the cause of death, police said. Union Station is located at 1701 Wynkoop Street. 

Also Thursday, a bicycle and motorcycle collided at Bruce Randolph Avenue and York Street in Denver, seriously injuring one person, police said. In another Thursday incident, a person was stabbed in the
300-block of South Lowell Boulevard in Denver, police said.
