UPDATE
A large tanker hauling hydrochloric acid sprung a leak Wednesday west of Denver - forcing the shutdown of I-70 and Highway 40. Normally busy lanes of the major travel arteries were closed for hours in both directions between the Morrison exit and the Lookout Mountain exit, the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office said. No injuries were reported. Hydrochloric acid has a variety of industrial uses, including metal refining. The sheriff's office deployed a drone to monitor the hazardous scene. Jefferson County and Colorado State Patrol hazmat teams responded as well as Arvada Fire, Genesee Fire, Highland Rescue and CDOT, officials said.
