"I'm not from the area" is a poor excuse for speeding.
Case - albeit routine - in point: A Douglas County deputy sheriff stopped a Mercedes with California tags doing 53 mph in a residential neighborhood, more than double the speed limit.
"At that speed, a collision with a pedestrian would almost certainly result in vehicular homicide," the sheriff's office said."Being unfamiliar with the area doesn’t excuse dangerous driving," the sheriff's office said. "Slow down, pay attention." [Photo: Douglas County Sheriff's Office]
