The average wait time for an appointment at a Colorado DMV office in the Denver area is about six weeks, the Post reports.

The agency stopped accepting walk-ins during the pandemic.

Denver are residents are driving to distant DMV offices for driver licenses, in at least one case making a 400-mile round trip to Lamar in the southeastern corner of Colorado, the Post says.

"It’s kind of a joke now, our family trip to Lamar,” a Broomfield resident said.
