MIRACLE ON 88TH AVENUE: HARROWING ESCAPE AS TRAIN SLAMS AUTO

A freight train plowed into a car Sunday night - moments after the people inside the auto jumped to safety, fire officials said.

The BNSF Railway locomotive shoved the auto into a crossing signal at 88th Avenue and Highway 2 in Commerce City.

"The occupants of the vehicle were able to escape without injury before coming into contact with the train," the South Adams County Fire Department said. There were no injuries. The auto suffered front-end damage.
