A man convicted of eluding sheriff's deputies in a stolen car hurtling in reverse through a supermarket parking lot has been sentenced to four years in prison.
Crazed autoist Joseph Blodgett, 31, of Littleton, pleaded guilty to felony eluding and reckless endangerment, the Douglas County Sheriff's Office said Tuesday.
"Dramatic surveillance video showed Blodgett fleeing in reverse through a parking lot crowded with pedestrians," officials said. "Deputy Connor Lacey made a decisive effort to block Blodgett’s path and protect bystanders." Blodgett crashed into Lacey's patrol car on Jan. 26 at the King Soopers on Highlands Ranch Parkway and University Boulevard in Highlands Ranch. District Attorney George Brauchler said: "If you choose to run from Douglas County law enforcement, bring a toothbrush and say goodbye to your loved ones. Our goal will be to put you in a place where you cannot threaten the safety of the community. That means incarceration. It is easier to pull over and take your medicine like a man.” [Photo: Douglas County Sheriff's Office]
