A judge sentenced a Denver husband who strangled his wife to death - and then took a cigarette break - to 25 years in prison.
Brian Mervin, 51, smoked a cigarette and sipped a soda while paramedics tried to save Cheri Kommer, 55.
9News reports Mervin pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in the crime that occurred in a home in the 4000-block of North Adams Street on Aug. 19, 2024.
