The final of 12 suspects in an Aurora kidnapping linked to the violent Venezuelan gang Tren de Aragua has been extradited to Colorado - and it was vanity that did him in.
Fugitive Jorman Jose Cuba-Zabala, 26, was captured in Chicago's famed Loop district on April 28 - accused of shoplifting two pairs of sunglasses valued at more than $800, police said Thursday.
He was booked into the Arapahoe County Detention Center on Oct. 4.
During the kidnapping, which occurred on Dec. 17 at The Edge at Lowry Apartments on Dallas Street, "two victims were confronted by approximately a dozen armed suspects and taken to a vacant apartment against their will where they were bound, threatened and assaulted," police said.
Cuba-Zabala was wanted on four charges of second-degree kidnapping, four charges of aggravated robbery, two charges of menacing with a deadly weapon and two charges of extortion - all felonies, police said.
