COLORADO'S STATE FIRE DOG RETIRES, NEW K9 ON DUTY

The Colorado state fire marshal's arson detecting dog - K9 "ROTC" - is retiring after five years of superior service, Governor Jared Polis said Wednesday.

Chris Brunette, Chief of the Division of Fire Protection and Control Fire and Life Safety Section, said: “His contributions have led to the successful apprehension of criminals and the recovery of vital evidence, highlighting the exceptional skills that make K9 units so essential to the State of Colorado.”

Recent fire dog academy graduate K9 "Waffle" is taking charge now.

The governor said: "
ROTC is leaving some big paws to fill, but I’m thrilled to welcome Waffle to the fire investigation team to keep Coloradans and our communities fire safe.”
