FROZEN IN FEAR: FIREFIGHTERS RESCUE DEER STUCK ON ICE

Members of Truck Company 4 of the Colorado Springs Fire Department rescued a deer stranded on icebound Curr Reservoir at the County Club of Colorado. "The deer had fallen through but managed to pull itself out, leaving it exhausted and unable to move far from the break in the ice," the fire department said. "Our crew geared up in full ice-rescue equipment and made their way onto the frozen surface. "The deer was understandably frightened, but we were able to safely secure it in a harness and get it back to solid ground," officials said. "As soon as it hit land, the deer found its strength and took off back into the wild." The rescue was conducted Tuesday. The deer suffered an injury to its right hind leg.
