A mystery explosion and fire Thursday destroyed a building in eastern Pueblo County, the sheriff's office said.
Authorities made no mention of casualties. The smoke plume was visible for miles. "Nearby residents reported hearing an explosion at about 2:45 p.m. near 57th Lane and Cherry Road," the sheriff's office said. "When responders arrived, they found a structure fully engulfed in fire." Officials added: "There is no threat to the public ... At this time no further information will be released due to the ongoing investigation."
