London's Daily Star says a British town official is fighting crime by patrolling streets banging Japan­ese clap­pers called "hyoshigi" - once used by night­watch­men. David Hen­wood of Lit­tlemore said: "We did it in one time when we had a large spate of bike thefts. It proved very suc­cess­ful. It told the thieves we were in the area.”
