Asa Alan Peck was sentenced to 58 years in prison for murdering a woman found in Big Thompson River at Fairgrounds Park in Loveland, prosecutors said Monday. Chantell Wilkes died of blunt force trauma and drowning on Aug. 22, 2022. Wilkes was also sexually assaulted. Peck, 47, was arrested in February 2024 after a lengthy investigation and DNA testing. The two were acquainted. Loveland Police Chief Tim Doran said: "Moments when justice prevails provide meaning to the effort, sacrifice, and resolve required to see such cases through.” A Larimer County jury convicted Peck on Nov. 25.
