Jared Rosier, 35, of Denver, is accused of stealing an auto, setting it ablaze in a field, fleeing into a swamp - and attempting to hop into a cop car early Monday in Larimer County, the sheriff's office said.
A drone tracked down the busy suspect after he emerged from the swampy area but before he tried taking the wheel of the patrol vehicle, officials said.
Rosier, also accused of damaging farmland, did finally gain access to a patrol car - in handcuffs no doubt - for a ride to the Larimer County Jail.
The strange incident occurred east of Timnath Reservoir and north of Weld County Road 78.
