'BEAR' THIS IN MIND AS SPRING APPROACHES

It's breakfast time for bears emerging from their winter snooze. "They’re looking for easy food sources after months of hibernation, and unfortunately unsecured trash, open garages, bird feeders, and pet food can attract them into neighborhoods," according to the Louisville Police Department.

Suggestions:
• Secure trash inside a garage or shed until the morning of pickup
• Remove bird feeders during active bear months
• Keep garage doors closed, especially overnight
• Clean grills after each use
• Bring pet food indoors
• Lock vehicle doors
