Danny Sanchez, sheriff of Costilla County, quit after he and four other lawmen were indicted on a variety of charges - from bungling a death investigation to assaulting a psychiatric patient with a Taser.
The county Board of Commissioners called a special public meeting for Monday at 8 a.m. in San Luis as well an executive session with lawyers.
The indictments were announced last week by the 12th Judicial District. Costilla County, population about 3,500, borders New Mexico.
