A police officer shot and killed a man armed with a rifle during a standoff in a residential neighborhood in Denver, officials said Wednesday.
The officer ordered the man to "drop the weapon and stop his advance," Police Chief Ron Thomas told reporters. "He disregarded those commands."The incident occurred Tuesday in an alley on South Quitman Street after the man threatened people in the neighborhood. Thomas said the man didn't fire his weapon.
The suspect was transported to hospital. In a social media post on Wednesday, police said he "has been pronounced deceased." The officer fired multiple shots.
