'LIMBS ON THE RUNWAY': VIDEO SHOWS DIA TRESPASSER INGESTED INTO JET ENGINE
The victim - to the left of the video image - was partially ingested into the flaming right engine of Frontier Flight 4345 to Los Angeles about two minutes after jumping the perimeter fence, according to reports. A radio transmission from the accident scene said: "I do have, uh, I do have, uh, limbs on the runway.” The Airbus A-321 aborted takeoff and the crew and passengers exited via emergency chutes as smoke from the burning engine filled the cabin late Friday. Twelve people aboard the aircraft were injured. Five were transported to hospital.
Runway 17L is located due east of the main terminal and points south.
The perimeter fencing is about 10-feet tall and topped by barbed wire. An inspection found no damage. The airport encompasses more than 33,000 acres, making it the largest civilian airfield in North America.
