Accused serial killer Ricky Lee Roybal-Smith was formally charged Friday with first-degree murder in the June 29 stabbing deaths of two homeless men in Aurora, the 17th Judicial District Attorney’s Office announced.
Roybal-Smith, 38, is also accused of killing his cellmate at the Downtown Denver Detention Center on June 30 - hours after his arrest on a parole violation and other charges.
He was later tied to the Aurora slayings in which the homeless men died hours apart on Moline Street and Peoria Street.
Roybal-Smith has a lengthy criminal record.
