UPDATE
Four people were transported to hospital early Monday from a horrific three-vehicle collision on Highway 285 west of Denver - and one of them was pronounced dead.
The wreck "required extended extrication of patients in two of the vehicles," West Metro Fire Rescue said.
The highway was closed after the wreck. Reports said the state patrol determined one of the vehicles was traveling in the wrong lane.
Meantime, West Metro firefighters also battled a building fire early Monday at West Colfax Avenue and Lamar Street. The building was vacant and may have been used by squatters.
