FIRE AT WOMEN'S PRISON; 3 HURT

Fire at the Denver Women's Correctional Facility injured two inmates and a staff member.

9News reports they were taken to hospital after being exposed to smoke. Saturday's fire was described as small and occurred during an incident in a prison housing unit, officials said. The Denver Fire Department responded.

The Denver Women’s Correctional Facility, located at 3600 Havana Street, is one of two correctional facilities for women in Colorado. It is the largest and houses inmates from across the state at all custody levels. It was built in 1998.
