Fire Department response
Fire broke out on the 27th floor of a downtown hotel early Sunday and the flames were extinguished by automatic sprinklers, the Denver Fire Department said.
Several mattresses were burning in a storage room of the hotel at 17th and Welton streets, fire officials said. No injuries were reported. Firefighters shut down the sprinkler system and ventilated the building. There's no word on the cause of the fire.
