After a frantic chase, deputies stopped a driver suspected of firing shots at another vehicle and arrested two suspects, the Jefferson County Sheriff's office said.
Pierre Morris, 38, and Shakeyah Jackson, 39, face a variety of charges, including attempted first-degree murder with extreme indifference. Deputies also recovered handguns, rifles and ammunition tossed from their car. The shooting occurred on U.S. 6 near Tunnel 1 at about 8 a.m. Saturday. There were no injuries. The pursuit started when deputies spotted the suspects on eastbound U.S. 6 and continued onto southbound Highway 93 and into Golden.
The Sheriff's Office provided this account: "On Heritage Road, deputies attempted to stop the pursuit by partially blocking the suspect’s escape route, causing front-end damage during the effort. "The suspect vehicle then entered an apartment complex, where both occupants exited and threw several items into a pond before attempting to drive away again. "Deputies conducted a high-risk stop and took both suspects into custody," the sheriff's office said.
