COULD IT SOMEDAY HAPPEN IN DENVER? POLIS AGAINST 'FEDERAL OVERREACH'

UPDATE

Could the streets of blue city Denver someday be on President Trump's to-do list for deploying the military?

Chicago apparently is.

"
Trump has made no secret that he’s eyeing Chicago as his next test case for a law-and-order crackdown in which he dispatched troops onto the streets of Los Angeles and Washington, DC, with the performative zeal of a demagogue," according to a CNN political analysis.

Anticipating a showdown with the White House, Illinois Governor JB Pritzker told Trump: "
Do not come to Chicago. You are neither wanted here nor needed here."

Ditto Colorado it seems.

In a statement Tuesday to the Daily Sketch, Shelby Wieman, press secretary for Governor Jared Polis, said the governor "has been clear that Colorado’s National Guard members play an important role in protecting our state during natural disasters and emergencies at home and abroad, and that he would not support federal overreach to activate the National Guard outside of regular order."

Underscoring that point, "Governor Polis signed an Executive Order earlier this month authorizing the use of the National Guard in response to the fires burning in Western Colorado," Wieman said. "So far, the National Guard has deployed two helicopters to the Elk and Lee Fires for fire suppression support."
