In an effort to fend off a huge budget shortfall, Denver's city government is cutting 928 jobs, officials said Monday.
Layoffs account for 171. Another 645 are vacant. The rest will be shifted to other funding sources.
The city is facing an almost a $200 million deficit this year, reflecting - in part - falling sales tax revenue.
