Following a brief chase, Aurora police arrested the driver of a stolen vehicle, a career felon who jumped into a pond in a failed escape attempt.
The chase early Sunday started near Chambers Road and Alameda Avenue and ended at City Center Park - very close to the jail. Police said: "This suspect has a serious criminal record, including felonious escapes, weapons offenses, burglary, drug distribution, and more. "He was arrested for motor vehicle theft, possession of Fentanyl, and felony eluding. Not to mention, he had active warrants for motor vehicle theft and parole violations for a previous weapons arrest." They added: "You can run, you can jump in a pond, but in Aurora, you're going to get caught and go straight to jail." [Photo: Aurora Police Department]
