RED FLAG WARNING: HIGH FIRE RISK THURSDAY; AREA TEMPS COULD HIT 100


UPDATE

The National Weather Services is forecasting a heightened danger of wildfires Thursday along the Front Range.


A Red Flag Warning will be in effect from noon until 1o p.m.

"Widely scattered to scattered high based thunderstorms are expected Thursday afternoon and evening," the weather service says. "The storms will produce lightning and gusty winds but little rainfall. "This could cause fire starts over the warning area," the weather service says. West Metro Fire Rescue advises: "Avoid any activity that may create a spark and start a fast moving wildfire. Be ready to act quickly. Have a Go Bag or emergency kit ready in case of a new fire start and/or evacuation order." Meantime, temperatures in the Denver area and on the plains could reach 100.
