The Jefferson County Sheriff Office reassured the public that Tuesday's knife attack on a park ranger poses no threat to the community as the search entered a second day.
"We understand that news of the stabbing at Staunton State Park has caused fear and concern," the sheriff's office said Wednesday on social media. "Based on everything we know at this time, this was a targeted incident.
"We are confident there is no ongoing threat to the public," the sheriff's office said.
