The Denver Post reports the proposed $6.2 billion merger of the parents of Denver’s Fox31 and 9News could lead to job cuts, consolidation and programming changes at the local stations and other U.S. outlets.
The Nexstar-Tenga combination requires federal approval.
Colorado Media Project chief Kimberly A. Spencer told the Post the merger "risks weakening a commercial anchor institution like 9News at the very same time that our public media, which is a lifeline for many rural areas, is facing its own funding crisis."
Meantime, the Denver Gazette reports a man faces up to 190 years in prison for fentanyl distribution leading to at least on death in Boulder County. Carlos Centeno-Izaguirre pleaded guilty to several charges, the Gazette says.
