MY BEST FRIEND DIED
By Vinny Del Giudice
Editor, Daily Sketch
My friendly little dog "Breeze" suffered a stroke while playing and died the same day - and it was awful.
He was just 5 or 6 years old, a stray from Texas adopted though a local shelter last year.
The staff at Veterinary Emergency Group at East Colfax Avenue and Colorado Boulevard worked valiantly to save Breeze - but the damage was done.
He lapsed into a coma.
Your correspondent believes in pressing on, especially in the aftermath of life's devastating events - even if means crawling in pain into the future.
That's been me this week.
Most unexpectedly, we happened upon a stray at a local animal shelter who was found wandering on East Colfax Avenue - just a couple of miles east of where Breeze crossed the "Rainbow Bridge" - and we adopted her in his memory.
Our son named her "Sadie."
Sadie, of Hebrew origin, means "princess."
